In the second episode of Hagen’s Podcast Corner, we meet vice-rector candidate Gottfried Greve. Gottfried is Professor of paediatrics at Department of Clinical Science at UiB and Head of the Unit of Congenital Cardiology at the Department of Cardiology at Haukeland University Hospital. In the episode we meet him at the Energy Centre for children, where he talks about his role in Team Hagen.
Gottfried is still just as fascinated by how the heart works. In connection to this, he talks about the importance of research and how important it is to share the knowledge. An example of generating knowledge for practical use can be taken from projects about children and young adults feelings of mastery:
“One of the things we think is very important for children and young adults is mastery. We actually do a number of projects that work on this to give children challenges that they can constantly master, and thus constantly break boundaries more and more”
The value of research and knowledge is great, but the value is even greater by sharing it. Gottfried refers to the University of Bergen as a good facilitator for good ideas to become reality.
“If we are elected we will put research in focus and my job will actually be to put the knowledge generated through the research, into use”
